Candy Rock 2005

I had another great trip to Candy Rock (CR) this year. R, P, K and I dined at the new Mel's, and arrived at the CR parking area around 9 am. R was generous enough to carry my large cooler down. (R, I owe you a dinner.) P was in a good mood, but then he had to go back up to the car, because he forgot his fishing pole.

There were other campers this year. When we arrived there were many from night before, both in our regular spot, and a family by the slide. We decided to hang out in a different place, so we chose the nook right across and to the left of the slide. Sunday night there was a foursome with a fire. Monday night there were a group of seven-or-eight young people, with tents and strong flashlights, who camped in our regular spot. Other highlights include a flask of Herradura, an early morning hike downstream, a couple of cute snakes, and an extremely bright meteor.

Further comments from R:

A brief trip, but highly worthwhile. And my legs don't hurt.

I guess our continual camping has been an inspiration to the young 'uns. I don't recall many other campers this century. Now we need to teach 'em Riverball. And how to pack yer trash.

Excellent nubility, eventually. But not a nipple to be seen. Dang right-wing Republican evangelical Christian moral majority moralistic crusaders must have brainwashed the youth. ...
